Claude Publish vs a private link

Claude has a built-in Publish button, and rtfx.pro adds private links to Claude as an MCP server. They solve different problems: Publish is for sharing publicly (or organization-wide on Team and Enterprise), a private link is for sharing with only the people you choose. Here is how they differ.

Who can open itFree, Pro and Max: anyone with the link. Team and Enterprise: people in your organization.Private by default. You, people you add as viewers or editors, everyone in your workspace, or anyone holding a named share link you created.
Sign-in for viewersFree, Pro and Max: public to anyone with the link. Team and Enterprise: viewers must be logged in to your organization.People you add sign in with a one-time email code. Someone with a share link needs no account and no sign-in.
Updating and versionsUnpublishing deletes the artifact, and it can't be republished at the same link.Publish again to the same name and the same link shows the new version. Every publish is a version, and you can roll back from chat.
Expiry and revokingUnpublishing takes it down, and that deletes it.Named share links with an optional expiry that you can extend or revoke. You can also delete the artifact, with every version and share link.
CostBuilt into Claude; see Claude's support site for plan details.Free plan. Pro $12/mo, Team $40/mo. Operators see metadata only, never your content.

This table only covers what Claude's support documentation states about Publish, so it has no row for features we could not confirm. The rtfx view log (who opened it, when, on what device) is described in the private-sharing steps.

When to use which

Claude Publish is fine when

  • Anyone may see it: a demo, a public write-up, something you would post openly.
  • You do not need to know who opened it or control who can.
  • You want no setup beyond the Publish button.

Use a private link when

  • Only chosen people should open it: a client draft, an internal report, a prototype under review.
  • You want to see who opened it.
  • You will keep updating it and want the same link to show the latest version, with rollback.
  • You want a link that expires, or one you can revoke without deleting the work.

Try a private link, free.
